Thanksgiving is only two weeks away and I’m going to admit something to you. We host Thanksgiving at our house, but I don’t make any of the dinner. I was lucky enough to marry a man who knows how to cook, and not only that, he loves to do it! So my contributions are a clean house, the tablescape, the cleanup and the pie.
I always make a pumpkin pie, but not everyone likes it. So we always have an alternative and usually it’s this wonderful, rich Chocolate Pecan Pie. It’s super easy and gives that pecan pie chewiness along with twist of chocolate. This pie literally took me less than 5 minutes to stir up and bakes for exactly an hour. Add some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, because, why not? No one is counting calories on Thanksgiving, right?
If chocolate and pecans aren’t your thing and you need some ideas, I’ve joined up with some Instagram and blogger friends who have you covered. I’m going to share my recipe with you and then I’m going to introduce them and their pie. Please go check out these talented women, even if you don’t need a pie idea. And also, check out their Instagram accounts because they are so much fun to follow!
Chocolate Pecan Pie
What you need
1 2/3 C Coarsely chopped pecans
3/4 C Chocolate chips
1 Unbaked pie shell
1/2 C Corn syrup
1/2 C White sugar
1/4 C Melted butter
2 Eggs, beat
What you do
Preheat oven to 325
Place unbaked pie shell into pie plate. Sprinkle chocolate chips and pecans into pie shell, making sure they are spread evenly and mixed together. In a bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Pour over chocolate chips and pecans. Bake for an hour.
Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
Easy and yummy!
Thanksgiving Pie Round-Up
And now is when it gets really fun because I get to introduce you to these fabulous women and their beautiful pies. I swear I’m gaining 5 pounds writing this post and drooling over these pictures!
First up is Dori from This Full Life 5. Her No Bake Peanut Butter Pie is right up my alley because I love peanut butter. For her recipe click here. Her website is thisfulllife5.com and her Instagram is @thisfulllife5. Go on over and say hi! She’s a sweetheart and I know you’re going to love her.
Next up is a Sour Cream Pear Pie from Dani at The Taborhood. This pie sounds so good, and different from other pies I’ve tried. I’ve never had a pear pie but now that I have a recipe I am definitely going to try it. Click here for the recipe, and check out her blog at TheTaborhood.com and Instagram at @thetaborhood. Go give her some love.
I think I’m definitely gaining some pounds when I look at Tara’s, of Stilettos and Shiplap, Caramel Pecan Cream Cheese Pie. If you want something different from your normal pie, this looks like it’s definitely one to try. Next to peanut butter, caramel gets me every time. Click here for her recipe, and definitely go check out her website and her Instagram @stilettosandshiplap.
This next pie is a Butter Tart from Martha at Inside the Yellow Home. This one had me drooling the minute I saw it. And it has a shortbread crust and she tells you how to make it. I mean, I’m loyal to Pillsbury having worked there, but making your own crust definitely makes you legit. Click here for her recipe, but please check out her website Insidetheyellowhome.com and Instagram @insidetheyellowhome.
Last, but certainly not least, is this beautiful Apple Pie from Shae at Sweet Southern Grace. Shae doesn’t have a blog, but I’m so glad she decided to join us to share this beautiful pie! I mean, look at this crust. Its almost too pretty to cut. But I love pie so much I definitely would cut it. I mean, I’d feel bad but I would. Check out her pie here on her Instagram account @sweet_southern_grace.
And that concludes this first Thanksgiving Pie Round-Up. I hope you found not only some new pies you want to try, whether for Thanksgiving or another upcoming celebration, but some new bloggers and Instagrammers to check out. We are definitely in the home and family category, and these women sure impressed me with their pies, food photography skills, and their ideas. I’m hoping that this is only the beginning of some great collaborations with all the talent I’ve found in the Instagram world.
I want to thank everyone for their contributions and the task of making pies and taking such beautiful pictures to share. Oh, and the sacrifice of their families for having to eat pie these last couple of weeks to prepare for this blog post.
I’ll be back again next week, but for now I’ll leave you to drool over all of these fabulous pictures. As always, thanks for stopping by!
