My 5 Favorites things in my Fall Closet
We are deep into fall weather here in Minnesota. It hit the last week of September and the weather changed dramatically. Good bye to warm temps (and sun, so it seems) and we were into the 50’s and 60’s. This week we can’t seem to get rid of the rain and the mid 40’s. The one good thing about cooler weather is wearing all my favorite sweaters, scarves and boots. Around the beginning of August I get excited for fall fashion - maybe it’s because I have my cabi fashion experience by then (if you don't know about cabi, check them out). Seeing all the fall fashion trends, colors and prints makes me want to bring on the sweaters, boots, scarves and plaid.
It’s been awhile since I shared some of my fashion love, so I thought it would be fun to share some of my picks for you to incorporate into your fall wardrobe. If it doesn’t feel like fall yet by you, count yourself lucky as I miss slipping on my flip flops to get out the door and I hate the feeling of tensing up from the cold weather. But if you’re like me and its cold where you are, then here are some items to check out!
My Fall Fashion Favorites
I love scarves. Plain, plaid, infinity, blanket. I love how a scarf can elevate a simple top and make it look like I made an effort. This is a cute one from cabi and I love the ruffles. Its called the Cuddle Scarf and I’m going to be wearing this scarf a lot this fall and winter. Plus its the perfect shade of gray.
A poncho or ruana is a great way to add a layer and a fall touch to your outfit. Or to make it look like you tried when your rushing out of the house. This one is by BP and is only $39 at Nordstrom. I don’t think I’ll be wearing it with bare legs, but with skinny jeans it’s just my style.
A plaid shirt is a basic for me in the fall, but I also like a lighter plaid in the summer for chilly nights. In the fall and winter, I love the darker plaids. Done right, you won’t look like a lumberjack, I promise. One of my favorite brands is Rails because of how well they are made and they’re so soft. They are an investment though, but there’s so many great priced ones like this one from Nordstrom. Throw on a vest or utility jacket and you’re set. For further style inspiration, check out Evereve as well, as they do plaid (and fall fashion for that matter) right.
A cozy sweater. I love cabi sweaters and it’s always so hard to pick and choose which one to get (which is probably why I have more sweaters than anything else in my wardrobe). This Deep V sweater from cabi has cute zipper details and is so soft. Go check out all their pretty sweaters for this season.
Leopard shoes. Or flats, mules, booties. They add an extra special touch to your outfit. Don’t be afraid to wear them with a print, as I think a good leopard print can also be a neutral. I love the print on these and the block heel is dressy but sturdy.
